These warehouses housed one of the offices of the Ente Nazionale Risi, a public economic body that protects the rice sector by carrying out actions to increase knowledge of ‘made in Italy’ rice with information campaigns. This organisation still exists today and has a rice research centre that conducts actions to improve production, carries out seed activities, provides technical assistance to producers and offers an analysis service to the supply chain and the requesting traders.

I have no further information as to why these buildings were abandoned, nor in what year the decommissioning took place.
