PEPPERMINT POWER PLANT [DE]

Exploration #54 Peppermint power plant. Peppermint power plant is a little power station hides in a picturesque zone of the Black Forest. It was built next to a paper mill in order to provide electricity to the factory. The power station worked on coal, and was meant to be used as a backup for when the nearby hydro plant was having a weak current.

The plant features a lovely shade of peppermint green color scheme on the single Siemens turbine and on the control panels. The steam was produced by two Steinmüller boilers one of which was commissioned in 1954 and the other in 1965. A very nice control desk is situated to one end of the turbine, with everything untouched since the last day of work.

Both the power station and the paper mill were decommissioned around 1999. The paper mill was stripped out but the power station has remained in very nice condition with very few signs of vandalism. Update 2021: the beautiful power plant has been heavy vandalized and fully covered by graffiti.

Not far from this location is another lovely abandoned coal-fired power station, the exploration of which can be found here: Papierfabrik Cyclonkessel.
