FUTURISTIC ROPEWAY [JP]

Exploration #271 Futuristic ropeway. The Enakyō Ropeway, also known as the “E-Ropeway” once connected Enakyō Station in the city of Ena with the Enakyō Land amusement park across the Kiso River, covering a distance of 717 meters in a five-minute ride. Operated by Enakyō Land, the ropeway opened on October 12, 1968, running every 15 minutes from the late morning to late afternoon.

Its operation came to an end on November 30, 2000, following the closure of the amusement park. Although Enakyō Land was later renovated and reopened in 2002 under the name “Enakyō Wonderland” the ropeway itself never resumed service. Today, remnants of the system still linger: the gondola Silver-gō (manufactured in 1987) remains at the former Enakyō Station site.
