LA CASA DI ALICE E NELLY [IT]

Exploration #104. La casa di Alice e Nelly. This small house, now hidden by thick vegetation, is located along the road at the edge of a small country village. The house belonged to two brothers, Alice and Nelly, who decided to live in this very isolated house to dedicate themselves to their passion for art. Because of their lonely life and their unconventional lifestyle many legends have arisen related to this place.

Certainly it is known that they moved into this house in 1946, with their mother. Their father had died electrocuted while working on a high voltage power line: hence the refusal of the mother to equip the house with an electrical system, a refusal also followed by her children. Alice and Nelly were both teachers. They decided to lead an almost hermitic life, holed up in their world, their “House of fairy tales”. Here without comfort, electricity, gas and water (there are no traces of sinks or toilets), they lived mostly eating the food grown in their garden, raising chickens and chickens. They managed to make a living from the income from the sale of their artwork, which was often reinvested in the purchase of other colours and paints. Nelly worshipped her sister to the point of not calling her by name, for him she was Divine and with this nickname he addressed her.

Alice died in 2007 and was buried by his will wearing fur and python shoes. From that moment on, Nelly left the house and, before joining her sister in the afterlife, ended up in two retirement homes where she told him every day how important his sister was to him.

Because of their strange way of life there are many rumours about these two brothers. Some talk about an enchanted garden that enchanted and attracted children who were then captured, killed and eaten. Another second legend concerns the brothers’ father who was believed to be a spy for the Germans during the Second World War. After the liberation by the Allies and the partisans he decided to take refuge in this country house, where he died a few years later.
