CENTRALE TERMOELETTRICA PIETRAFITTA [IT]

Exploration #17 Centrale termoelettrica di Pietrafitta. The former Pietrafitta thermal power plant was built in 1958 in order to use coal extracted from an adjacent large lignite deposit. It remained in operation until 2001, when the mine was exhausted.

The plant borders Lake Pietrafitta, a basin created as a result of the mining activity. The turbines and boilers were dismantled soon after the plant was closed, while the control room was still in good condition. Outside the power station, the small cooling tower was still present.
